7. March 2003 President Rudolf Bauer and zhupan Gyarfas Illdiko discussed together in Kosice about cooperation on common programmes between Kosice self-governing region and hungarian zhupa Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen (B-A-Z). The both representatives agreed on need of soonest highway connection between Miskolc and Kosice. According to Ildiko Gyarfas hungarian government approve continuation of building highway from Miskolc towards frontier with Slovakia. First stage of the segment long almost 60 km has to be ready till 2006, second as latest period till 2010. During building the second stage would by great help the finances from European Union, for which the both sides want to apply. The faster motor way between both cities has the importance with respect to using of Kosice´s airport from the side of visitors of zhupa´s B-A-Z, because the airport in Kosice is nearer for them then airport in Budapest. In the cultural field the nearest project of both border regions will be Festival in Tokaj area in may 2003 with objective of cooperation development of towns, villages and representatives of the culture in Tokaj region on Slovak and Hungarian side. In the field of tourism the both representatives of the regions agreed on cooperation during propagation and development of posssibilities of tourism mainly in the areas closed to borders region (mainly the cave project Domica-Aggtelek). Chairman of zhupa B-A-Z expressed its willigness and invitation for enterrpreneurs of the region to participate on traditional professional market Karpat Industrial in october 2003 in Miskolc, to deep mutual cooperation in trade sphere.
